Prolific speakers from as far as Aruba to Haiti will converge at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown, from October 15 to 17 for the annual speech conference and contest, the last of four such events on the organisations’ yearly calendar.

At the conference, delegates will be involved in a number of educational and training exercises, district meetings and motivational speeches, and will also be feted at a banquet and regional awards ceremony.

The seminars will feature regional and international speakers, including St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ very own Dr. Ken Onu and Dr. Jules Ferdinand, delivering addresses.

Participants will also compete for titles in the humorous speech and evaluations competitions.

The conference will be held under the theme: “Teamwork makes the dream work”.

This Sunday, September 26, the local leg of the competition which will determine who represents St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the regional competition will take place at the Paradise Hotel in Indian Bay.

About six hopefuls will vie for a place in the regional finals, which takes place October 16th, the second day of the conference.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines, represented by Gloria Williams last year, won the humorous speech category when the competition was held in St. Lucia.

The next conference will be held in the British Virgin Islands. (JJ)
