In addition to the formal ribbon cutting ceremony, the opening will include a weekend of activities, including tastings, price discounts and giveaways.

The project has been under construction for the past 18 months or so, with many expressing surprise at the speed of the development. Managing Director Luke Boyea, commenting on the speed of development, gave particular praise to a number of the parties involved, in particular the first class architectural services provided by Moulton Mayers Architects, who Boyea described as the bedrock of the project; the general contractor Overseas Engineering & Construction Co Ltd, out of Taiwan, who Boyea described as “simply fantastic”; the engineering services of Brian George and the electrical contractor Maxwell Ince, with numerous other parties playing an integral role in the development.

The new supermarket is by far the largest in the country and is an extension of the existing brand started in Stoney Grounds in 2005. The new site includes a number of firsts, including an underground car-park, with total parking accommodating over 120 cars, an in-store Digicel shop and soon to be opened retail shops and restaurant.

In commenting on the new store, Boyea described the people who have seen it as being in “awe” and also “very proud” that such a supermarket exists here in St. Vincent. Boyea explained that the new store carries a wider variety of products, including a brand new exceptional value line, but maintains the same great service their customers have become accustomed to.

The New Aunt Jobe’s Arnos Vale employs approximately 40 new staff and has regular opening hours of 7am to 10 pm – Monday to Saturday, and 7 am to 3 pm on Sundays.
