This was disclosed by Police Commissioner Keith Miller on Tuesday, August 31, at a meeting between members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) and Special Services Unit (SSU) at the Old Montrose Police Station.

The meeting was geared towards finding ways to improve crime fighting methods. Miller said it was important that they acted professionally and respectfully without infringing the rights of the public.

In underscoring the importance of safety, Miller said the public can expect an increase in stops and searches around the country. The Commissioner said it is important that the public understand that their safety is top priority for the Police. He also stated that business operators should feel comfortable going about their business without fear or interference.

Miller also made an appeal to persons who are bent on depriving others of the “benefits of their hard work” to desist from their lawlessness, as the police force would not stand idly by and allow such behaviour.
