Ministry of Culture to host summer programme

The Ministry of Culture will host a summer programme for children between the ages of 11 and 14 years old. The program will run from Monday, July 19, to Friday, August 13, 2010, between 9:00 am and 11:45 each day, in several zones, including Leeward, Kingstown and Marriaqua.{{more}} The sessions will be held at schools in the respective zones.

This programme will provide the children with an introduction to some of the artistic disciplines by way of sessions taught in Dance, Art & Craft, Poetry, Drumming, and Music. The purpose is to give the children an exposure which will help broaden their life experiences. It is well known that the arts help youth’s development by building their self expression, self confidence, concentration, group co-operation skills, and enhancing the fine motor and coordination physiology of the human musculature system. It will also help them to consider if they wish to follow any of the artistic disciplines more intensely to a profession.

Facilitators will be drawn from the staff of the Ministry. Additional information can be had by contacting the Ministry of Culture.
