Youth shot in right hip at Petit Bordel
Earlene DeGrads believes her son could have died because of the slow response by Medical personnel from Chateaubelair.
DeGradsâ son, Stewart, was ambushed and shot in his right hip on Monday, June 14, at Stone Mill, Petit Bordel, shortly after an altercation with one of his attackersâ relatives at about 10am.{{more}}
The 21-year-old fisherman said he was sitting outside a shop when three men, armed with cutlasses and a gun, attacked him.
Lying on his left side, on a bed at the Male Surgical Ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, Stewart said the three men came up from behind and started âplanningâ him with the cutlass.
âAfter two ah them start to plan me, now when I dey pon de ground, de other one just come and shoot me,â Stewart recalled.
About 30 minutes before being shot, Stewart said he was involved in a altercation with one of his attackersâ relatives and knows that the attack was their retaliation. âI ainât been really frighten at the time, but i just glad that I alive,â Stewart revealed.
Stewartâs mother, Earlene, said that her son was on the ground for a long period of time before help arrived from the Chateaubelair Hospital.
âThey really need to do something better than this because my son could have died,â Earlene stated.
No one has been charged in connection with DeGrads shooting.
