The SVG Gospel Awards, which comes at the end of SVG Gospel Fest 2010, are based on performances during the month-long festival. Among the awards to be presented are 7 in the music and song category, 3 in dance, 7 for drama, 3 for outstanding performances, and 2 special committee awards.
The awards are judged by the 15-member Gospel Fest Committee and takes in account performances at the zonal and national showcases, with three nominations in each category.
The most eagerly anticipated announcement of the night will be the one for most outstanding performance with the winner of that award possibly getting an opportunity to represent St. Vincent and the Grenadines at a regional gospel festival.
With over 66 nominations and some very outstanding performances, it is difficult to predict winners in the various categories which add to the excitement of the night. The program, which will be broadcast live on radio and television, will also include addresses from Gospel Fest Chairman Fidel Taylor, and Minister of Culture the Hon. René Baptiste. In addition, the committee will take the opportunity to honour various sponsors and churches for their contribution to the festival over the years. The awards show will be complimented by a variety of performances from some of the groups and individuals nominated for awards, followed by a cocktail reception.
Persons being awarded will receive trophies and other gifts and prizes from various sponsors and the Gospel Fest Committee.
SVG Gospel Fest was celebrated under the theme: âDeclaring Godâs Praises in the Islandsâ.
