Tight schedule for Miss SVG hopefuls

Plans are progressing well for Miss SVG 2010, the first Beauty Pageant in Vincy Mas 2010.

Miss SVG 2010, the much-anticipated pageant, will be held at Victoria Park on Sat., May 29, at 8.00 p.m.{{more}}

The ten contestants and their chaperones were taken on an Admirality Transport Company Ltd. sponsored retreat to Bequia on Sunday, May 2. The day was spent quietly in reflection at the Mango Bar & Grill owned and operated by Richard Williams.

The first public appearance of the contestants will be at the Official Launching Ceremony of Vincy Mas 2010 tomorrow, Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the SVG Chamber of Commerce Car Park, when they will introduce themselves and be sashed by their sponsors. A surprise act awaits Carnival lovers at this function.

Contestants will visit Secondary Schools, May 10 -14, 2010. A talent preview will be held on May 12 at the Peace Memorial Hall from 4.30 p.m. They will “Meet the Media” at Young Island Resorts Ltd. on Sat., May 15, from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and make a guest appearance at the Interbank Sports Meet at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex at 2.00 p.m.

A Windward Road trip leaving Peace Memorial Hall at 9.00 a.m. will be held on May 16, open interview session at the CDC’s Conference Room, Victoria Park on May 17, at 4.30 p.m., Live Radio interviews May 17 -18, visits to the School for Children with Special Needs and Helping Hands Centre on May 19, from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

Visits to sponsors will take place on May 20 -21. An official motorcade around Kingstown will leave Victoria Park at 11.30 a.m. on May 22. A road trip to Leeward on May 23 will leave the Peace Memorial Hall at 9.00 am.

The Carnival Development Corporation will hold a Press Conference on May 25, at 10.00 a.m. The delegates will attend Fisherman’s Day Prizegiving on May 24, at 4.00 p.m. They will visit the Prime Minister and members of Cabinet on May 26. Their final meeting with the Technical Team will be on May 26, at 4.30 p.m., with a dress rehearsal on May 27, at 5.00 p.m, Victoria Park.

The contestants are: Bonnie Allicot, of Dauphine, sponsored by Metrocint General Insurance Co. Ltd.; Kimeisha Bailey of Belair, sponsored by Darcheville Construction and Equipment Services Ltd.; Hadia Creese, of Campden Park, sponsored by Hafran Caribe Ltd.; Anna Ellis, of Byera, sponsored by LIME; Jodesia John, of Questelles, sponsored by SUPER 6; Aphesha Matthews, of Stubbs, sponsored by Rent and Drive; Ashelle Morgan, of Diamond, sponsored by Jergens; Shannon Murphy, of Richmond Hill, sponsored by LOTTO; Patsy Richards, of Hopewell, sponsored by the Agricultural Input Warehouse; Joeverne Webb, of Edinboro, sponsored by Caribbean Medical Imaging Center.

The winner of Miss SVG 2010 will receive a 3 year University Scholarship valued at EC$80,000 to the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, Barbados or Jamaica from the Government of SVG, $8,000 cash from the Carnival Development Corporation, and other gifts.

Miss SVG 2010 will also represent SVG in Miss Carival 2010 on Friday, July 2nd, 2010.

The 1st Runner-up will win $5,000, the 2nd runner-up $3,000, and all other contestants $1,000 each.
