Jennifer Marshall, guidance counselor at the school, said the aim of the exercise was to give the students as much information as needed to decide on a career path.

“Our students need to be informed. They need to know how to choose and what choices they have,” Marshall explained.

“That’s the reason why we started the career fair some four years ago,” she continued.

A number of business houses covering a wide cross section of the private and public sectors were represented to provide the students with information that is hoped will get them to thinking of what career they would like to pursue.

The activity is designed for students in Forms 3 to 5, with a special feature added last year.

This is the inclusion of an interview session.

“We live in a very competitive world, and we are trying to educate our students to give them as many skills as possible,” Marshall told SEARCHLIGHT.

One way is to expose the students to an interview session, where the students learn useful tips on effective interviewing, said Marshall.

“We can’t emphasize enough the importance of that and preparation for the work world,” she said. (DD)
