ICD is the anniversary of the first meeting of the World Customs Organization (WCO) over fifty years ago and is an event that recognizes the efforts of Customs workers throughout the world and also marks the contribution of Customs towards making our communities safe, secure and prosperous. It is also an occasion to acknowledge those agencies that work together with customs to enhance trade.

This year the Department will be commemorating this special occasion with a week of activities. The highlight of the week’s activities will be a moonlight cruise along the Leeward course. An Awards Ceremony and Cocktail will take place on board.

The week of activities will begin on Sunday, January 24, with a church service at the Arnos Vale Methodist Church at 9:00 a.m. The following day, a radio programme will be broadcast on NBC radio. On Tuesday, 26, visits will be made to six secondary schools throughout the country. A presentation will also be made to the SVG Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.

There will be a customer service day outside the Enforcement Unit on Wednesday. On Friday 29, a games evening and Karaoke will be held at the Department, beginning at 3:30pm. Moonlight Cruise along the Leeward course, with a cocktail and awards ceremony on board, will be held on Saturday.
