Hassan, a teacher of the Park Hill Government School, and her 12-year-old daughter, a student of the St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, were travelling in a black Toyota Marino car last Wednesday shortly after 7 a.m. en route to Kingstown, when the car skidded off the road and went over a cliff at Shipping Bay, Biabou.

The mangled remains of the car lay on the beach approximately 100 ft below.

Theodore Matthews, Hassan’s brother, was securing items from the car when SEARCHLIGHT visited the scene last Wednesday morning.

He confirmed that his sister and niece were taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital but couldn’t say what condition they were in.

“First of all I am thankful to the Almighty that my sister is still alive and I can say the same thing for my niece,” said Theodore.

“I don’t mind the car, once she is alright. The car is just material that you can get again,” Theodore stated.
