It is now one year since 67-year-old Patricia Jack-Bowman tragically lost her life when a huge section of the retaining wall broke and buried her car.
Gonsalves noted that the remaining section of the wall which stands will be demolished. However, barriers will be erected to prevent debris from reaching the single lane which is currently used by commuters.
âThat wall is again going to be a major expense, not for the government, but for the owner of the property above… You canât chinks on it, because safety is important,â said Gonsalves.
He used the opportunity to remind the nation that the construction of the wall did not start and was not completed during the time of the Unity Labour Party administration.
âThe application for planning permission was not made during the time of the ULP,â said Gonsalves, stating that he made this statement for the purpose of accuracy. (HN)
