More First Caribbean dollars for NEMO
Just in time for the hurricane season, the local branch of FirstCaribbean International has made yet another donation to the National Emergency Management Organisation, NEMO.{{more}}
The donation comes in the form of EC$7000 which will go towards initial printing of 1500 Hurricane Guide booklets. The booklet is an integral component of NEMOâs ongoing public education and awareness programme and contains valuable information about hurricane preparedness.
NEMO Director Howie Prince says the donation is a useful and timely gesture. He notes that the Hurricane Guide which has a shelf-life of four to five years contains valuable information about how to prepare for a storm and is a useful addition to NEMOâs home preparedness kit. That kit is now being distributed on a house to house basis across the country.
FirstCaribbean for its part says it is proud to once again be associated with NEMO in this worthwhile initiative. FirstCaribbean will also be involved with the school programme which will be launched in September. FirstCaribbean has been partnering with NEMO for some time now and just last year donated over three thousand hurricane tracking maps to NEMO for distribution in the community. These maps can be used to track an approaching storm and contain useful information and tips on creating a family disaster plan.
