Back to School Summer Fest
Like many others, Stuart âRudyâ Louie believes that there are not enough social activities to occupy the free time of youths in his community. But instead of complaining about it, he is taking action!{{more}}
Louie, Event Organiser of Hott Vibes Promotions, along with several groups within the North Leeward community, has organized a âback to schoolâ summer programme scheduled to run from August 23 – 30.
Aimed at 7 – 17 year olds, the programme is designed to help syoung people resist the lure of unsavoury activities, and to nurture their talent in sports, music and performing arts. âWe see sports and culture as a way to keep the youths away from crime.â
Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT, Louie gave a brief outline of the programmeâs agenda, which includes: basketball at the Rose Bank Hard Court on Monday, August 24; football at the Petit Bordel Playing Field – Tuesday, August 25; cricket at the Petit Bordel Playing Field – Wednesday, August 26; lawn tennis at the Richmond Vale Academy – Thursday, August 27; lawn tennis at the Petit Bordel Hard Court – Friday, August 28; and cycling and athletics from Chateaubelair to Richmond then back to Cherry Hill in Petit Bordel – Saturday, August 29.
Louie explained that as a youngster, he was highly involved in sports and hopes to pass on its benefits to the current generation. He also divulged his intention to develop Cherry Hill as a recreational centre for educational, entertainment and sporting purposes.
