Foreign Minister presents cheques to students
Foreign Affairs Minister, Sir Louis Straker, presented cheques to approximately 75 needy secondary and primary school students, at a ceremony which took place yesterday.{{more}}
EC$32,000.00 was presented to the students, from a âChildren in Need Fundâ to which a number of organisations and individuals in the U.K. have contributed. The Fund was established in the U. K. four years ago, by St. Vincent and the Grenadinesâ High Commissioner in London, His Excellency Cenio Lewis.
This year, a major contributor has been the Menâs Christian Fellowship at the Sands Seventh Day Adventist Church in High Wycombe, which donated two thousand, two hundred (£2,225) pounds sterling from two fundraising events staged for the purpose.
The âChildren in Need Fundâ is an ongoing project, from which over three 300 students have received bursaries over the years.
Yesterdayâs presentation ceremony took place at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade.
