Approximately forty business leaders and professionals met and networked at the event, an entirely social after work event in a tranquil atmosphere. Participants were given the opportunity to just have a drink and relax, while learning about the products and services Courts currently offers.

Introductory remarks were made by Angus Steele, President of SVGCIC. Steele stated that BAH not only provides great networking opportunities while fostering a strong business culture, but also provides businesses with the exposure and credibility that is essential to succeed in a dynamic market environment.

Elwyn Phillips, Senior Operations Manager of COURTS (St. Vincent) Ltd, welcomed participants to Courts, stating that Courts was delighted to host BAH and continues to improve its good and services as well as the standard of living of the Vincentian community.

Courts Marketing Officer, Alexis John told attendees that Courts started 50 years ago in the Caribbean and 12 years ago in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, transforming houses into homes and revolutionizing the retailing landscape. He added that Courts has since made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, hence adding value to people’s lives. John said the St. Vincent market has been very responsive to all new initiatives. One of such being the Courts Accumulator, where customers can win prizes such as cash, grocery, travel for a year, taking the customer’s economic condition to an even higher level. He said that Courts in an effort to give back to the community and the local economy, has a requirement to buy furniture from local manufacturers, further creating employment in the local economy.

Wendy Edwards COURTS Credit Manager added that Courts not only provides top brands at affordable prices but they also provide responsible affordable credit with the Courts Ready Finance. The Courts Ready Finance Plans include the Alternate, Gold, Silver and Bronze. These plans cover debt, disablement, loss, damage, redundancy etc. She said that Courts offer a Credit Protection Insurance (CPI) benefit where customers are granted a 25% voucher on a natural disaster loss, as well as credit facilities that give customers the chance to refinance if they are unable to pay.

The SVGCIC embarks on a monthly Business after Hours initiative as a part of its mission to provide opportunities for business growth and prosperity, offer quality service to its members and serve as a resource leader for business and the community.
