Sir Dwight lauds LIME for seamless service
LIME, the leading telecommunications service provider in the Caribbean, received strong commendation from the Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Sir Dwight Venner, when the bank hosted its inaugural Regional Interactive Discussion with the ECCU Heads of Governments, ECCB Monetary Council and the OECS Economic Union Task Force via videoconference last Thursday, July 23rd.{{more}}
All member states in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union and Jamaica were connected via LIMEâs high speed internet service in real time without any difficulties. Additionally, St Lucian Prime Minister Stephenson King was in Taiwan and was connected seamlessly with his colleagues in the ECCU.
Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Dr Ralph Gonsalves led the discussions from the ECCB headquarters in Kingstown which focused on the OECS and ECCU Eight Point Stabilization and Growth Program.
Facilitator and St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ Representative on the OECS Task Force, Ambassador Ellsworth John, expressed appreciation to LIME for a job well done. In his opening remarks, Chairman of the OECS Economic Union Task Force Sir Dwight said: âLIMEâs response to our request was tremendous, and we must commend the management and staff of LIME in St Vincent and the Grenadines and all other member states in which LIME operates for making this historic occasion possible.â
The conference was technologically driven as viewers from around the world who followed via the internet were able to send comments by email and text messages.
Dave Newbold, EVP Technology, commented that LIME continues to invest heavily in modern technology because customers in the Caribbean are demanding first world services, and this was just one example of the companyâs capability. He added: âIn Jamaica, we have recently installed the fastest 3G network in the Caribbean, and we are trialing the âEântertainment in LIME, and very soon we expect to make an announcement in this regard. In addition, we are presently rolling out our Next Generation Network (NGN) in some business units. LIME is definitely working with Caribbean people to create a better place. Just watch us.â
