Business students trained in e-Commerce
Twenty business students from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, who are into their second week of ICT/ e- business training course, have been given an incentive to continue the workshop, which is geared towards making them into future business men and women.{{more}}
Charmane Tappin John, Program Co-ordinator of the SFA 2005 ICT Development Program, indicated at last Fridayâs opening of the two-week workshop that four of the participants will earn an opportunity to be interned at the project office on Lower Bay Street, as well as the Ministry of Telecommunicationâs E- government and data processing units.
The participants will also be given the opportunity to work at the programâs outreach offices in Chateaubelair, Mesopotamia and North Union.
John indicated that the students will work in groups and will be trained in, among other areas, e-commerce, e-management, project management, business planning and financing of businesses.
At the end of the workshop, the lucky students will be selected.
The students will be paid a stipend during their internship with the program.
Minister of Telecommunications Dr. Jerrol Thompson, on declaring the workshop open, said that his government recognizes that there are numerous persons with brilliant ideas, and that workshops such as this one will give the participants an opportunity to soar.
The two-week workshop is being facilitated by consultants Jani Savolainen and Allan Daisley. Chairperson of the last weekâs workshop launch, Irina Nunburger, said that the training is a great opportunity to learn a lot in the area of ICT and Business Planning, and urged the students to make use of the opportunity given to them.
The workshop is funded by the European Union and the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines under the SFA 2005 program.
