Vincentians are being urged to put their food and beverage creativity and talent to work and submit recipes to be included in an SVG Breadfruit Recipe Book to be launched soon.
This initiative hopes to increase the demand for the breadfruit both locally and internationally, through the creation of a Recipe Book, with focus on the Breadfruit (both plant and fruit), also highlighting locally produced and agro processed products.
This recipe competition is open to people of all ages and walks of life. Participants may submit as many recipes as they like. Those recipes used in the pages of the Breadfruit Recipe Book will be credited to the person(s) responsible for the submission. The participant submitting the winning recipe will be specially recognized at a Grand Launching Ceremony. Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants.
Entries should include: Dish or Drink Name; Ingredient list with measurements; Preparation Method; Number of servings based on conservative portioning.
Recipes must use the Breadfruit as the main ingredient but should also feature other locally grown or manufactured foods and will be judged on: Taste of the finished product; Use of Breadfruit; Simplicity/clarity of recipe; Creativity and originality.
Participants are also encouraged to submit local stories, tales or folklore which share the history of the local breadfruit for inclusion in the publication.
Recipes are to be submitted on or before Wednesday, 8th July, 2009, to the Competition Administrators at the SVG Hotel & Tourism Association at the E.T. Joshua airport.
