No change to communion says Anglican Bishop
There will be no change in the way communion is served at the Anglican churches in the Windward Islands amidst swine flu concerns.{{more}}
âWe have not looked at that,â said Bishop Leopold Friday, who is the Bishop of the Anglican Churches of the Windward Islands.
The Anglican Church practices the traditional method of partaking in Holy Communion, where parishioners sip wine from the same chalice.
As Swine Flu concerns continue around the world, there are many reports of churches in the United States and England, who have altered communion practices as a form of precaution.
Some churches have halted the public drinking from the chalice and have ordered individual communion kits.
However, Bishop Friday said that throughout history there have been many other communicable diseases and the church has maintained its practice.(KJ)
