The program caters for children between the ages of five and 15 and will be held in three locations: In Kingstown, at the Thomas Saunders Secondary School; Georgetown, at the Georgetown Government School, and Barrouallie, at the Barrouallie Community Centre.
This year, the program will be held for 2 weeks, starting July 20th and ending July 31st, and will run Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
The focus of the program this year is the Banana Industry. The children will pay close attention to the way the fruit is grown and the many ways the plant can be used in art making.
Registration forms are available at the Theo Saunders Shop and the Professional Secretarial Office.
Youlou Arts Foundation will also be holding a Teacher Training Workshop at the Thomas Saunders Secondary School from Monday, July 13th, to Friday, July 17th, 2009.
The workshop will be facilitated by visiting artist Camille Saunders Musser. Camille is a painter and a textile artist. She has been teaching children art in the Boston area for several years.
On August 2nd, a fund raiser is being organized by Youlou Arts Foundation. It will take the form of an Art Fair at the Thomas Saunders Secondary School and the Richmond Hill Playing Field. Children will be able to participate in some fun art making activities. There will be mask making, volcanic rock painting, face painting, jewelry making, outdoor games and lots of fun things to make. Please save the date. There will be more information on the fair in the coming weeks.
