Adah McMillan for Miss Int’l Bold and Beautiful pageant

Despite being stripped of the winner’s crown for the Miss Big and Beautiful pageant 2009, Adah McMillan has not been deterred from taking part in such shows. In fact, she is set to represent St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the Miss International Bold and Beautiful pageant, taking place tomorrow, June 20th, in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.{{more}}

McMillan received a personal invitation to compete from the show’s Coordinator Kimberly Rodriguez on February 6, 2009. “I’m overjoyed about it… really looking forward to taking part,” she beamed. McMillan expressed how much of an honour she finds it to be able to represent her country on an international scale.

The pageant will see full-figured women from around the world compete in the categories of Introduction, Costume, Swimwear, Evening Wear, Talent and Interview. Other regional participants include Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts Nevis, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.

Working with her trainer Shevon Smith, McMillan has been rigorously preparing for the day – especially brushing up on her modeling and interview skills. Talented young designer Shernicia Mayers is making her gown.

On the topic of being stripped of her title of Miss Big and Beautiful 2009, McMillan is still baffled as to why exactly the show’s organizer behaved in such a manner. “I returned all ticket money and stubs. There was a Justice of the Peace present, and one of my co-workers.” According to McMillan, the show’s coordinator has neither contacted her to explain her actions nor attempted to resolve the matter. She was also mindful to point out that her participation in Miss International Bold and Beautiful has nothing to do with her participation in the local Miss Big and Beautiful pageant.

However, McMillan seems to be putting the fiasco behind her for now, and is concentrating on her impending participation in the Miss International Bold and Beautiful. In fact, she could hardly contain her excitement. McMillan confided that she has seen a few photographs of her competitors, and although she is not being complacent, she believes she stands a good chance of coming out on top. “I’m confident that I can go out there and represent St. Vincent and the Grenadines and make the nation proud!”

McMillan and her chaperone left the island yesterday, in time for a cocktail reception today, June 19th, where they will be introduced to the press. Her sponsors include the National Lotteries Authority, M. Moussa and Sons, Randy’s Supermarket, Gitts Supermarket, Y de Lima Ltd, Fran Paul Selections, EJ the DJ, and Aeropost Network SVG. (JSV)
