The Centre for Enterprise Development Inc. (CED) Business Gateway Project will launch a comic book entitled âLaunching into Entrepreneurshipâ next Tuesday, June 16th.{{more}}
The publication, which is the brainchild of Manager of Training and Education, Jacintha James, was developed to promote the concept of self-employment for young persons and forms part of CEDâs Youth Business and Entrepreneurship Training (YOUBET).
The Business Gateway has published fifteen thousand (15,000) copies of the comic book, which is attractively illustrated by graphic artist Ken Dyer and simplifies the idea of entrepreneurship for the young minds to easily understand.
According to Jacintha James, âthe comic book is a medium for teaching a serious topic – entrepreneurship – in a simplified and fun way. It was developed to add diversity to our Youth Business and Entrepreneurship Training (YOUBET) and to reach a wider cross section of young people who could not be catered for in regular YOUBET programmes. This comic book reflects the resourcefulness of CED as a major provider of entrepreneurship training and education in SVG.â
The Book Launching Ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Methodist Church Hall from 10:00 a.m. Students from primary and secondary schools throughout the State will attend the Ceremony, at which they will also be presented with copies of the comic book.
The Ceremony will be addressed by Minister of Telecommunications, Science, Technology and Industry Honourable Dr. Jerrol Thompson; Chairman of the Business Gateway Steering Committee Mrs. Shirla Francis and Business Gateway Manager Mrs. Simone Murray.
Business Consultant, Dr. Julian Ferdinand, will deliver the Keynote Address on the topic âLaunching into Entrepreneurshipâ; while teacher at the SVG Technical College Miss Edlena Adams will share her impressions of the comic book.
