Digicel prepaid users to access Blackberry services

Effective January 28, 2009, prepaid customers of mobile network provider Digicel will have access to services once thought exclusive only to postpaid Blackberry users.{{more}}

At a press conference at the company’s main office in Kingstown, Marketing Manager Juno DeRoche announced the latest offer, which she described as innovative, that prepaid customers would appreciate and take advantage of.

“The reason is once you understand how Blackberry works, it is not easy to give it up.

“Prepaid and postpaid customers of Digicel will now have the opportunity to take advantage of the Blackberry service. They can now be connected to the World Wide Web three times faster than any other Blackberry user in St. Vincent and the Grenadines with our EDGE enabled service,” DeRoche said.

With the new offer, prepaid customers with Blackberry phones can access all features available, for the period of time for which they subscribed.

Brenda Barbour, the company’s head of sales, explained that the three tier-based rate plan is determined by the amount of credit allotted to the service.

According to Barbour, seven days of the service will cost a customer EC$12.50, 14 days: $25 and 30 days: $50.

The customer will be issued a five digit code, which will enable them to access the service.

The Digicel officials indicated that plans were in the pipeline for promotions that would see Digicel customers winning new Blackberries, or getting them at reduced prices.
