Seven beds and one rocking chair were donated to the Paediatric ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital by Imnah Thomas, nephew of the late Daddy Thomas (owner of Daddy’s Shop), and a member of Thomas Browne Promotions and The Finishing and Furnishing Store.

The beds, which were handed over to the hospital on December 9, 2008, will be used by parents who want to stay at the hospital overnight with their children.

According to acting Hospital Administrator Fitzroy Jones, previously, parents of children admitted to the ward, who wanted to stay overnight, had to sleep on chairs.

This, according to Thomas, is what drove him to purchase the beds so that the parents will be comfortable while staying with their children.

Jones, who sees the donation from Thomas as a “great” one, also praised the close relationship between Daddy Thomas’ shop and patients at the Hospital. “They have been producing a good service to the hospital,” he said.

The seven foldout beds were bought at the Finishing and Furnishing store at a total cost of $2,800, while the rocking chair cost $600. (OS)
