The competition, which is in its fourth year, was held at the Methodist Church Hall and saw five schools competing on Saturday, 22nd November.

The students were asked questions on topics ranging from sports to credit union affairs, but it was the Belair Government School, represented by Terika Alexander and Alicia Browne, that got the judges’ nod for number one after the scores were counted.

Speaking to Searchlight after the competition, the elated girls said they were “happy and excited” to have captured the trophy for their school a second time. They said they were nervous at first, but “we kept our focus and answered the questions; we reached our goal, and that was winning”.

Taking the second position was Richland Park Government School, which was represented by Antoy Thomas and Vis Tony.

The Kingstown Anglican School was third, and they were represented by Breya John and Dillion Michael.

The other participating schools were Cane End Government and Barrouallie Anglican.

President of KCCU Michael John, in his brief remarks, said his organization is committed to youth development and youth education. (VM)
