And one can expect more than the fair share of lighting as the committee is planning a major spectacle to celebrate the milestone.

Operating under the theme: “Fun, Talent and Creativity, celebrating ten years of Lighting the Sion Hill Community”, the lighting committee is anticipating its biggest display of lights ever.

Already working on the designs and concepts, the Sion Hill Intersection is expected to be transformed into a collage of colours, as the thousands of lights will be majestically crafted in the area, which is the gateway to capital Kingstown.

Chairman of the Sion Hill Lighting Committee, Leroy Llewellyn, said he anticipates a great showing this year, as they had planned to make this year “special”.

According to LLewellyn, “the Intersection will be lit as never seen before”.

The Lynx Cultural Organization, a mas band that emerged from the Sion Hill Community, is spearheading the creativite work for this year’s lighting.

But he is banking on the strong community spirit to assist in ensuring that this year’s lighting lives up to its billing.

And, continuing in the trend of being pioneers in this regard, Llewelyn disclosed that as part of the special occasion, the committee will stage a Christmas song Contest.

Also part of the celebrations, a special Christmas song has been penned for the occasion.

The Lights at the Sion Hill Intersection will be officially turned on on Saturday, 13th December, with the usual exciting cultural package.

But this year, the Intersection will also see additional activities leading up to Christmas Day. (RT)
