This being the 10th Anniversary of the competition, the LEO Club replaced the usual passage with an actual story. This new branch of the competition greatly enhanced the enthusiasm of the readers and encouraged them to not only read the story, but to be the story. They were able to express themselves based on the characters of the story and obviously had fun doing so.
Lakhram ensured that she brought the 1st Place prize to the Kingstown Preparatory School for the second consecutive year, and for the fifth time in the competitionâs ten (10) year existence. Andre Martin, of the Calliaqua Anglican School, won the Best Prepared Story and placed third overall, and Lyndsay Dowers, of the St. Maryâs Roman Catholic School, won the Best Spontaneous Story and placed 2nd overall.
Once again, the Curriculum Unit and the Adult and Continuing Education Division in the Ministry of Education played a pivotal role in this yearâs competition, by providing expert advice and technical assistance.
The LEO Club wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the sponsors of this yearâs event: CLICO, First Caribbean International Bank, The Mustique Company Ltd., Sports
Locka Plus, Nightingale Book Store and Mountain Top Springs.
