Jerry George, Digicel’s Public Relations Manager for the Eastern Caribbean, at the launch of the campaign held at the Roof Top Restaurant, upstairs the Cobblestone Inn, on Monday, November 10th, said, with a broad smile, that every Christmas the market can rest assured that Digicel is going to bring some excitement to the market place.

George explained that the campaign dubbed ‘Live Free with Digicel Making Your Wishes Come True’ is based on a scratch card system. A customer simply purchases a scratch card of EC$25. Each scratch card will have a letter F, R or E. The person who puts the word “FREE” together wins.

According to George, there will only be three winners. The first prize winner will be awarded $5,000 a month for the entire year. The second prize winner will get $ 2,500 monthly for the year, while the third place winner will receive $1,000 monthly for the year.

Digicel customers can also win weekly prizes such as televisions, DVD Players, game players as well as handsets, and three lucky persons will get an opportunity to win EC$5,000 from wild cards that will be placed in the market.

The Digicel Christmas promotion ends on January 18, 2009, and the draw takes place on January 23, 2009.

George said Digicel started an earlier campaign during the mid year called ‘The Better Life’. He said this promotion was designed around Digicel’s recognition that the economies throughout the world were under stress.

“We want to say to those who are our customers surely this is our opportunity to say we want to let you know that we understand the pressures. We want to give you a better life. We want to ensure that during the year come 2009 that you can indeed live freely,” said George.

George praised the partnership with the media. He said the good work produced by the media over the past five years has helped to position Digicel “as the leading telecommunications company here in St.Vincent and the Grenadines.” Digicel also gave every member of the media present letters stating that they are to receive a brand new BlackBerry handset.
