Police Officers receive training

Members of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police force last week received additional training in a number of areas that should help them to be more effective in the execution of their duties.{{more}}

The training, which took the form of a lecture, was conducted by Commissioner of Police Keith Miller, this Tuesday at the Old Montrose Police Station.

Entitled ‘Practical Aspects of Evidence’, the officers were guided in several areas, including receiving and responding to complaints and reports, visiting and taking command of crime scenes, submission of case files, alibi statements, investigation plans and giving evidence in court.

The areas covered are expected to be further developed in future training courses and lectures, a release from the police said.

Commissioner Miller urged the officers to make use of training exercises as they become available, as they would enhance the officers’ ability to effectively execute the core functions of their institution.
