Their latest demonstration of generosity came last Friday, October 10, at the Peace Memorial Hall in Kingstown when Digicel’s Marketing Executive Edmund Joachim handed over a sponsorship cheque that went towards the local Finals of the Students of Heroes Gallery National Quiz Championships and Imaginative Expression Project 2008.

Collecting the cheque was Secretary of the Students of Heroes Gallery National Quiz Championships and Imaginative Expression Project 2008 Committee Bobsie Joyette.

The Final of the quiz, which was contested by five secondary schools, was won by the St.Vincent Grammar School (SVGS). Second place went to the Mountain View Adventist Academy, while the third place spot was taken by the Barrouallie Secondary School. The other schools that took part were the St.Clair Dacon Secondary School and the Bequia Community High School.

The SVGS will represent St.Vincent and the Grenadines at the semi-final in Dominica on October 21st. If they are successful, they would move onto the finals in Barbados on the November 1st.

Said Joachim: “We are very proud to lend our support to the area of education, especially among the younger students.” He added: “We are also very happy to be co-sponsors of the event because we see the importance of nurturing the youths and helping them in being competitive in a positive way.

Joachim said that apart from making a monetary donation, his company also made a donation of five cellular phones.
