SVGTV heads the TV Ratings
Two years have passed since the last Media survey and despite new competitors, according to a recent Media Survey, SVGTV is still No. 1.{{more}}
SVGTV has shown sizeable audiences throughout the evenings of the broadcast day. Peak viewership being between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. with a high of 38, 200 viewers during the peak period of 7 p.m.-8 p.m. Even when taking into consideration the number of subscribers to Cable, SVGTV is still the most viewed when compared to the local Cable channel. Its audience is well spread across all socio-economic groups and sex but stronger among the 25 years and older age groups.
From as early as 6 p.m., when 34% of the Vincentian market is watching television, 20% of them are already tuned to SVGTV compared to 1% to the local cable channel, and even after the News and Sports, almost 50% of the market is still hooked as opposed to just over 3% to the other channel. The morning from 5:30 a.m. is no different, therefore, showing that SVGTVâs morning programs of âCaribbean Workoutâ and âIn-Timeâ are receiving substantial viewership.
Though this is good news, Head of Sales and Marketing, Candice Sealey, says that the station will not sit on its laurels, there is still a lot of work to be done. She mentioned that new programs such as Super Saturdays, Island Neighbours on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and the Warren Cassell show (exclusive to SVGTV) due to commence on July 26th have helped and will continue to boost the station. Sealey said that though businesses may feel that continuous advertising is not necessary, the survey clearly shows that there is still a massive audience to be marketed to and Television is a powerful medium to use to do so.
