A post mortem conducted on Junior âBuddyâ Simonâs remains discovered that he died from a blunt trauma to the right side of his head.
Last week in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT, Simonâs family spent most of their time trying to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the child.
On Saturday, July 5, 2008, Simonâs lifeless body was discovered in the Fenton Mountains by his father Curtis Smart and a search party from the community – five days after he went missing.
He disappeared on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Simon was last seen that evening with five of his friends – aged 12 to 17, heading towards the Fenton Mountains. The boyâs school, the Gomea Methodist School, had been dismissed at midday, and with his guardian Sylvia Charles in the hospital, it is believed that he used the opportunity to go fishing with his friends.
The friends returned later that evening to their homes but Simon never made it back alive.
