Unsung Heroes nominations to close soon
27.JUNE.08
There are just three more days before nominations for this yearâs FirstCaribbean Unsung Heroes Programme close.
First introduced in 2003, the FirstCaribbean Unsung Heroes programme has become the flagship for volunteerism in the region. The programme seeks to recognize and honour those people who have contributed selflessly to the development of their various communities with little or no reward.{{more}}
It is conducted on two levels, nationally and regionally. All seventeen countries in which First Caribbean operates hold a local event at which candidates are nominated and a winner selected. The local winner is then entered into the regional competition. First Caribbean is continuing to accept nominations for its 2008 programme which was launched earlier this year.
Persons wishing to make nominations for the programme have until June 30th to do so. Entries will be evaluated based on the impact of service to the community, as well as the time and sacrifice committed to these efforts. FirstCaribbean is urging Vincentians to nominate individuals and groups whom they consider are making a difference in their various communities and are deserving of this recognition.
Nomination forms are still available from the local branch of FirstCaribbean International in Kingstown, or from the institutionâs website at: www.firstcaribbeanbank.com. When completed, nomination forms should be returned to the local Coordinator of the Unsung Heroes Programme at FirstCaribbean.
