Sir Louis hosts farewell cocktail
The Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade, Sir Louis Straker, hosted a farewell reception last evening to say goodbye to Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan, His Excellency, Jack Cheng.{{more}}
His Excellency leaves on May 18th after serving as his countryâs representative to St. Vincent and the Grenadines since February 2006.
The reception was held on Thursday (May 15th) at the official residence of the Prime Minister, at Old Montrose.
Ambassador Cheng will be succeeded by Ambassador Designate, Mr. Leo Lee, who is scheduled to arrive on May 19th. Lee is expected to present his credentials to His Excellency the Governor General and pay courtesy calls on the Hon. Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs before the end of this month.
In the meantime, the President-elect of the Republic of China on Taiwan, Dr. Ying-jeou MA, in a letter of appreciation to Prime Minister Gonsalves, has expressed his commitment to continue to promote the cooperative projects in which Taiwan has been involved locally, and to maintain the close ties that both countries have enjoyed for the last twenty-seven years.
