Baptiste was at the time speaking at the launch of the Largo Height Community Development Organisation, at the Largo Height Community Centre on Tuesday, 25th March.
Baptiste lauded the efforts of other communities in her West Kingstown constituency which have all been experiencing good success with their community groups.
The groups at Ottley Hall and Lowmans Leeward came in for high praise, as both groups have been making positive strides in the development of culture, community enhancement and sports in their respective communities.
As she encouraged the Largo Height group, Baptiste said that the community of Largo Height has a rich history in sports, among other things, and said the community has endeared itself to her.
She also announced two projects that have been submitted for funding from the Social Investment Fund (SIF). One is the conversion of an old community bath into an office for the community group and the other includes the fencing of the playing field and the construction of bleachers and a broadcast booth for the same.
Twelve outstanding persons in the Largo Height community, including âBomâ drum veteran Grafton Wynne, were honoured with certificates of appreciation for their contribution to the community.(KJ)
