IHS launches History and Heritage Club

The Intermediate High School last Thursday, 13th March, launched its History and Heritage Club at the school.

Deputy Principal of the School Philbert John said the club is part of a United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) program, “World Heritage in Young Hands”. He said that the club was formed as a way to encourage students in the study of history.{{more}}

Minister of Culture Rene Baptiste, in her address to the students, said that “History and heritage are two things we have to carve out for us to know our identity.” She encouraged the students to research their heritage and promised that the Ministry of Culture will partner with them to embrace their culture.

While delivering his speech, Guest Speaker Ronnie Daniel told the students that it’s up to them to shape their history. “You need to know who we are as a people,” he said.(VM)
