The keenly contested competition saw Israel Carr, representing Form 3 Room 1, emerging as the 2008 Reading Champion. Savin Peters of 1 Room 21 placed second and Jason Charles of Form 2 Room 11 took the third spot.

The finalists were required to read a prepared and an impromptu passage. Students’ comprehension of both passages was tested with oral questions.

To reach the finals, the best reader of each form competed against each other. Areas of judging included the students’ ability to read orally with proper volume and voice pitch, their ability to read accurately without insertions or omissions and their ability to observe punctuation marks while reading.

Awards were presented at the school’s General Assembly on Monday, 25th February, 2008.
