SJCK launch Young Leaders programme

Friday February 1, 2008 signaled the official launch of the St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown Young Leaders Programme for 2007-2008.

Celebrating under the sub-theme: “Removing barriers:{{more}} Understanding our past, altering the future for a brighter tomorrow,” students packed the school’s auditorium to witness the launch.

Guest Speaker and teacher at the School, Gailene John said that the official RBTT Theme: “Bridging the gap; building relationships for a better tomorrow” is pertinent in this generation.

John said that in today’s society there are many existent gaps including generation gaps, the gaps between the rich and the poor and religious gaps and the gap of crime and violence.

John highlighted that the moral fabric in our society is swiftly decaying because of the prevalence of these gaps.

She urged the Young Leaders to take the themes to heart and ensure that they build relationships that will make the future brighter. John urged the students to form a strong bond amongst themselves and to try to make their project one where they can bridge the generation gap so as to include the young and the old.

The Launch also saw a dance and modeling performance by the Young leaders. The young dynamic dance group, “Global Dancers” also was on hand to showcase their talent.

President for this year’s Young Leaders Group is Alayna Dublin and Tedisha Gordon is the Vice President.(KW)
