St. George’s fetes elderly
The Church of the Ascension, Sion Hill, was the venue for the 2007 Service and Christmas Luncheon for the Elderly, Sick and Shut In of the St. Georgeâs Cathedral.{{more}}
The Service, which was organized by the Pastoral Care and Counselling Committee and the Health Guild of the Cathedral,
took place on Thursday, December 13, 2007, and had as its chief celebrant Dean and Rector of the Cathedral, The Very Revâd Patrick Mc Intosh. The Sermon was delivered by the Bishop of the Windward Islands, The Rt. Revâd Leopold Friday. Following the Service, the congregation was treated to a luncheon and Christmas gifts.
Over one hundred persons from the Lewis Punnett and Thompson Homes, as well as the Elderly, Sick and Shut Ins who were accompanied by relatives and friends, attended. Others groups, organizations and individuals within the Church contributed to the success of the event.
The Service for the Elderly, Sick and Shut In, which is a monthly affair, is part of the Social Outreach of the St. Georgeâs Cathedral.
