Barbados hosts Canada – Caribbean Ideas forum

In keeping with Canada’s commitment to renew and deepen its engagement in the Caribbean, an Ideas Forum, dubbed the Canada – Caribbean Ideas forum was held in Bridgetown, Barbados on July 18 and 19 at the Caribbean Development Bank Headquarters.{{more}}

Some 36 multidiscipline participants from around the Caribbean along with 21 resource persons from Canada, including the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and other international organisations converged at the Canada-Caribbean forum to discuss current developments in the region while identifying the key challenges and opportunities that continue to shape the vision for the Caribbean community.

Concurrent group discussions were divided into three main planks: Governance – delivering accountable governance; Security – building a more secure neighbourhood; Prosperity – promoting growth and prosperity, including the building of human capital as a priority.

The Canada- Caribbean Ideas forum culminated with a keynote address by Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada.

Suzanne Joachim, of Joachim and Associates – an HR and Business Consulting firm, attended the Canada-Caribbean forum in her capacity as a Human Resource Management Consultant.
