Three tie at top in Mathematics
She isnât sure about what she wants to be in the future, but right now Angelina Questelles is just enjoying being tied with Antonio Robertson and Evertson Robertson as the top performers in Mathematics, as was revealed in the results of this yearâs Common Entrance examination. They all scored 98.33% in the Math test.{{more}}
Angelina 11, the first of two children for her parents Kenneth and Marina Questelles, also placed 12th overall and eighth for girls.
âI feel good,â she said adding that she was glad to do well in Math even though she couldnât say that it is her favourite subject.
She also said that the fact that both her parents are grade six teachers helped her to get ready for the exam so she wasnât nervous when she wrote it.
Proud mother Marina who teaches one of the grade six classes at the Calliaqua Anglican Primary School where her daughter attends, said that she always knew that her daughter was going to do well.
With his proud father Anthony Robertson beaming by his side, young Antonio, a student of the Rose Hall Government School told SEARCHLIGHT that he intends to become a rocket scientist.
The senior Robertson, a schoolteacher and Information Technology major at the St Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), told SEARCHLIGHT that he was not surprised at his sonâs performance as he constantly provides him with support and guidance.
Young Antonio says that his favourite subjects are Math and Social Studies. He also enjoys playing cricket and soccer and the recorder. The Rose Hall Government School student credits his success to parents, pastor and his teacher Rohan Chambers.
Everson Robertson, another Rose Hall Government School student told SEARCHLIGHT that he felt excited when he heard about his Math score and that his mother Everlyn who resides in Canada is very proud and promises him a Notebook computer as a reward.
Everson aspires to be a Medical Doctor and enjoys reading, playing cricket and soccer and walking his dog Butch. Everson credits his success to his family and teacher Rohan Chambers. His recipe for success is: âHave confidence in yourself and be focusedâ.
