Lafeisha thanks brother for help

“I was overwhelmed.”

That was how 12-year-old Lafeisha Hadley of the Georgetown Government School described how she felt when she found out that she was the top girl in this year’s Common Entrance Examination.{{more}}

Hadley, who placed second over all with an average of 95.70% had special thanks for her brother, Laurent Hadley, an upper six student at the Community College, who she said has been a main source of help along with her teachers during her preparation for the exam.

“We have a very good relationship,” she said.

Together with Anson Latchman, who placed fifth overall, Lafeisha has continued a growing tradition at the Georgetown Government School that has earned the school the nickname “Country Prep School”, a reference to the Kingstown Preparatory School which has historically seen outstanding common entrance results.

Lafeisha, who will attend the Girls’ High School, said that she is aspiring to be an accountant. She said that her mother Hazel Hadley has continually encouraged her and pushed to do well in school.

She said that she wasn’t one bit surprised by her top performance. “The exam was very easy,” Lafeisha said.(KJ)
