Keisal Peters is the new president of VINSA
Celebrating our past, embracing our future; VINSA 25 years and counting.
This was the theme under which the new executive of the Vincentian Studentsâ Association (VINSA) at the Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, was elected to carry on the legacy of the association.{{more}}
Criticized as being too young by others who refused to accept the responsibility of leading the association, February 24, 2007 became a watershed in the history of the organisation as well as in the lives of the candidates when they debated and won the confidence of the Vincentian audience.
Keisal Peters won the greater support of the voters against her competitor Josell Pemberton to become the new President of the association, previously headed by La Tisha Sandy. Ronnia Durham (Vice President), Tamira Browne (Secretary), Bex Williams (Treasurer), Anthony Layne( Public Relations Officer), Mikalla Knights (Cultural Entertainment and Activities Chairperson), Nakita Charles (Returning Officer) and Kerwin Laidlow (Sports Representative) each ran uncontested for their individual offices and was given the confidence votes of the voters.
Taking office on April 1, 2007, the new executive vowed to maintain the integrity of the association as well as to work in the best interests of its members and supporters. As part of their first official duty, the executive hosted a memorable and well organised farewell dinner and awards ceremony for the outgoing executive.
For the upcoming academic year, the executive is responsible for spreading the Vincentian culture and heritage to other nationalities, especially on the Cave Hill Campus, during a week which coincides with our Independence.
Furthermore, while in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the members are scheduled to visit the Aâ Level College to create an awareness of the existence of the association as well as to encourage persons to further their education.
