Sheri Edwards, a teacher at the school who is completing a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, encouraged the students to use every opportunity to read as it helps to improve vocabulary and word power.

“It is observed that children and teenagers who love reading have comparatively higher IQs. They are more creative and do better in school and college and it is recommended that parents inculcate the importance of reading in their children in the early years,” Edwards told the students and parents present at the launching.

According to Edwards, reading is said to significantly help in developing vocabulary while at the same time, reading aloud helps to build a strong emotional bond between parents and children. She said that children who begin to read from an early age are observed to have good language skills, and are better able to grasp the variances in phonics.

The school’s library was also re-opened with several books being donated by various companies and individuals. (SB)
