Brackin praised for school project

A 13-WEEK PROGRAMME on “Effective Teaching for Meaningful Learning” by Senior Qualified Assistant Teacher at the C.W. Prescod School, Maureen Brackin has been highly commended by lecturers at the University of the West Indies (UWI).{{more}}

Brackin, who did the project in partial fulfillment of the requirements of her final year was graded by the UWI lecturers David Subran and Carol Keller who described the project as thoughtful and recommended that the project be implemented at the school.

In her presentation, Brackin outlined that her project comprised a focus group made up of students, parents, teachers and stakeholders from the community. She noted that the focus group put together suggestions for a developmental plan with the aim of modifying the school’s curriculum so that it would meet the needs of the students while enhancing teachers’ competencies.

One of the main objectives of the practicum was to create a climate and culture at C.W. Prescod Primary which is conducive to effective teacher performance and meaningful learning, Brackin explained.
