Mayreau Regatta sails off this weekend

Vincentians and visitors alike who were not able to participate in the Easter weekend’s regattas in Bequia and Union Island are in for a treat, with the re-emergence of the Mayreau regatta set to take place this weekend.

After almost ten years absence from the Grenadine calendar of events, the spotlight will shine on the tiny island once again from April 26th to 30th.{{more}}

According to the organizing committee of the Mayreau Regatta, the event began with a fishing competition among the local fishermen yesterday, to be followed by an all fours domino tournament and board games today.

Two sailing events are scheduled for this weekend, the first tomorrow and the other on the final day of the regatta. Also on Saturday, a Pee Wee princess beauty pageant will take place at the Mayreau Government school, and on Sunday a number of other on shore activities are scheduled.

The committee says it expects participants and visitors from not only mainland St. Vincent, but also neighboring Grenadine islands, but also Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique.
