Windsor Primary School hosts ‘Floating Classroom’

Students and teachers of the Windsor Primary School exhibited six weeks of research and creativity in a three-day showcase at the Russell Shopping Complex in Kingstown.

The project titled “Floating Classroom St. Vincent and the Grenadines” began last Wednesday and ran until Saturday 17th March. It highlighted the beauty of the waters and marine life surrounding St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and the need for their conservation.{{more}}

The students, teachers and some parents of the school went on field trips to the Old Hegg Turtle sanctuary in Bequia, as well as on a coastal whale and dolphin watch tour. They were also involved in discussions, video presentations and quizzes.

The students were asked to create and present pieces of work related to their experiences over the six week period, which were then put on display at the exhibition. The creations included poems, sculptures, drawings and photos taken by the students.

The floating classroom is a pilot project funded by the International Fund for Animals and Wildlife (IFAW). A number of other similar projects are being planned for other schools throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
