The past president of the Girlsâ High School Cooperative told SEARCHLIGHT, that her motivation to start the Youth Cooperative came naturally as she was always involved in the credit union movement. âIt feels good to have started such a thing and I am looking forward to great things for this Youth Cooperative,â Jones said.
The soft-spoken president said that she sees the need for the young people today to invest their monies wisely and save it towards their education or something fulfilling.
Jones said the cooperative at the school is not only to teach young people how to save but also empower them.
The first year business student said that she thrives off the wealth of knowledge she gained over the years of her involvement in the cooperative movement, which has in turn helped her tremendously in her school work. She said she wants to be the kind of leader that helps other young persons to develop themselves and mould their future.
Also addressing the 40 plus students was Inspector of the Cooperatives, Neva Phillips-Cordice, who applauded the students for taking a huge step to get the cooperative started at the college. She urged them to view it as something to benefit from and as a way of preparing for the future.
