Project manager of the Tourism Channel Debra Rodney said the project was designed to showcase the beauty and dignity of the islands and people, and to make sure that it was compelling to visitors and guests.

The feature was filmed by a number of local companies and produced by Karib Cable crew K45. It took six weeks to complete and is hosted by Chester Connell and Cleo Huggins.

Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sport Glen Beache expressed his satisfaction with the project, saying that a tourism channel was long overdue for this country, seeing that a number of regional countries already have these channels established.

He stressed that with the introduction of the Caricom Single Market and Economy, this country needs to be more competitive, and a project like this and others will be valuable tools in the growth of the tourism industry.

Beache informed those present that plans are being made to install television sets in the arrival lounge of the ET Joshua Airport, which will be tuned permanently to the Tourism Channel, so that one of the first thing visitors see will be places to go and things to do while here.

The minister is also hoping that hoteliers here would encourage visitors and tourists to tune into the channel while staying at their hotels.
