Swiss Ambassador presents papers

Following the decision of Switzerland and St. Vincent and the Grenadines to establish diplomatic relations on Ambassadorial Level, the first Swiss Ambassador to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Walter Suter, presented his credentials to Governor-General, Sir Frederick Ballantyne, at Government House on Tuesday.

“It is a great honour for me to be the first Swiss Ambassador to St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” said Walter Suter after the meeting. “I am looking forward to working closely with the authorities of this country in order to improve and strengthen the bilateral relations.”{{more}}

After the ceremony, the new Ambassador also met the Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Sir. Louis Straker.

In his conversations with the dignitaries Ambassador Suter pointed out that Switzerland is very interested in deepening

the relations with St. Vincent and the Grenadines thereby following Switzerland’s renewed efforts to support the political and economic integration among CARICOM member countries.

During his stay in Kingstown, the Ambassador also organized a gathering of the Swiss citizens living in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Suter is resident in Caracas, Venezuela, and is at the same time accredited to all the independent States of the Lesser Antilles, as well as Guyana and Suriname.
